女性WD患者打算结婚怀孕，首先要明确WD为常染色体隐性遗传病，与非WD者婚配是有生出WD患者的可能。因此在怀孕前如有条件，其配偶应行WD基因的突变检测，以排除杂合子的可能。另外，在怀孕前应行正规驱铜治疗，使铜代谢、各系统功能等检查达满意程度、内分泌功能恢复正常、临床疗效达0或Ⅰ级，以最佳的身体条件准备妊娠的到来。 由于女性WD患者怀孕后发生先兆流产和死胎的几率高于常人，因此应积极行妊娠期和围产期检测，防止先兆流产和死胎。如有胎儿发育异常或死胎的证据，则应立即终止妊娠，手术后行积极强力驱铜治疗以防止病情加重现象的出现。 女性WD患者怀孕后是否应继续执行驱铜的常规治疗方案，目前尚无统一意见，但可以参考本中心的意见：经正规驱铜治疗后，铜代谢、各系统功能等检查达满意程度，内分泌功能恢复正常、临床疗效已达0或Ⅰ级的患者，可考虑暂停药物，但必须定期监测铜代谢等各项指标。较为肯定的看法是：继续持续口服驱铜药物有可能增加流产的机遇率和对胎儿有致畸等影响的危险，而孕前或妊娠期停止驱铜药治疗，孕妇有惹致溶血性贫血或肝功能恶化的风险。因此，无论驱铜药物停用与否，在整个妊娠期都应密切观察、及时处理。如其配偶为杂合子，建议孕16周时行行羊膜腔穿刺抽取羊水行ATP7B基因突变检测，以确定胎儿是否为WD患者，能够做到知情选择。
